TONIGHT
The Bakersfield Condors play their 12th and final game against the Alaska Aces tonight and are guaranteed a winning record against their longtime rivals. Bakersfield has picked up wins in seven of the first 11 meetings, including victories in three of the last four. It is the first of three straight on home ice for Bakersfield, who play five of their final eight regular season games at home.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
The Condors wrapped up a stretch in which they played eight of nine on the road over the weekend in Utah. Bakersfield could not overcome the Grizzlies and fell by scores of 3-1 and 5-1. G Sean Cahill made his first professional start on Friday, making 33 saves on 35 shots, and came in for an injured G Kris Lazaruk on Saturday midway through the second period.
Alaska dropped two of three in Ontario to kick off their 10-game road trip. The Aces dropped 3-1 and 5-3 decisions before bouncing back to take the third game. 3-1. G Troy Redmann picked up his 11th victory of the season, stopping 25 shots, and F Brendan Connolly scored the eventual game-winner with under seven minutes remaining in the third.
STAT OF THE NIGHT
Tonight is the 149th and final meeting between the Condors and the Aces dating back 17 years and two different leagues (when the Aces were known as the Anchorage Aces; including the West Coast Hockey League, 1998-2003). The Condors are 62-68-18 all-time against the Aces and have winning records in nine seasons.
CONDORS NOTES
LW Sebastien Sylvestre is just the sixth rookie in team history to hit the 20-goal plateau. He is tied for 11th in the ECHL in rookie scoring with 40 points (20g-20a)... D Gabriel Verpaelst is fifth among ECHL rookies with 123 penalty minutes. He is tied for second in rookie major penalties with 13... RW Jonathan Lessard has 13 points (7g-6a) in his last 17 games dating back to February 11... D Trevor Campbell, who made his pro debut in Bakersfield two weeks ago, has two assists in his first four games.
