
Toledo's Lerg Named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Jeff Lerg of the Toledo Walleye is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for March 16-22.
Lerg went 3-0-0 with one shutout, a 0.65 goals-against average and a save percentage of .975 in three appearances last week, helping the Walleye extend their unbeaten streak to eight games (7-0-1).
The 28-year-old stopped all 21 shots he faced in a 3-0 win at Elmira on Monday, made 34 saves in a 3-1 victory against Missouri on Friday and stopped 22 shots in a 2-1 shootout win against Florida on Sunday.
A native of Livonia, Mich., Lerg is 27-7-2 in 37 appearances with Toledo this season. His 27 wins are are tied for second in the league while he is tied for second with four shutouts, fourth with a 2.29 goals-against average and tied for fourth with a .921 save percentage.
Lerg has appeared in 66 career ECHL games with Toledo and Trenton posting an overall record of 41-20-4 with four shutouts, a 2.74 goals-against average and a save percentage of .910.
During his junior career, he was named the USA Hockey Junior Player of the Year in 2004-05 after leading the United States Hockey League with a 2.16 goals-against average in 52 games with Omaha. He also enjoyed a four-year career at Michigan State University from 2005-09, and helped to lead the Spartans to the 2007 National Championship.
