Saskatoon Blades News Release
Abbotsford, B.C. - Chase Wouters is a professional hockey player.
The former three-year captain of the Saskatoon Blades has signed his first pro contract with the Abbotsford Canucks - the American Hockey League affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.
"I'm very excited and honoured to be part of the Abbotsford Canucks," said the 6-foot-0, 193-pound centreman. "It's a dream come true to sign my first pro contract, and I'd like to thank my family, friends, coaches, teammates, and fans who've supported me through the years to help me get to this point."
The 21-year-old wrapped up his five-year WHL career at the end of April, leading the Blades to a third-place finish in Regina's Hub Centre with a 16-5-2-1 record.
On April 28, 2021, Blades General Manager Colin Priestner announced that the club would be retiring Wouters' No. 44, making Wouters just the seventh player in franchise history to receive that honour.
Recognized as the longest-serving captain in franchise history, the Lloydminster product finished 3rd in team scoring with 22 points (10G-12A) in 21 games. Wouters dressed in 280 career games and tallied 181 points (75G-106A), all of which wearing a Saskatoon Blades uniform.
