CORPUS CHRISTI - Nolan Ryan says Norm Miller called himself a fastball hitter.

"Not mine! But he can really tell humorous stories about the game."

That collection of stories became Miller's book, To All My Fans from Norm Who. The Astros' outfielder from 1965-73 appears at Hook, Line & Sinker from 5:30-7 this Friday and Saturday, where he'll sign copies and talk baseball with fans.

Miller once found a boa constrictor in his locker. He got caught with the mayor's daughter. That's just a glimpse of what's in his first book. He was there for the dawn of the Astrodome era. He played with Bob Aspromonte, Cesar Cedeno, Larry Dierker, Johnny Edwards, Roger Metzger, Joe Morgan, Doug Rader, Joe Pepitone, Rusty Staub, Bob Watson, Don Wilson and Jimmy Wynn.

He played against the greats from 1965-75 and was a teammate of Hammerin' Hank Aaron when Babe Ruth's career home run record fell.

The native Californian signed with the Angels at 17 and went on to Houston and Atlanta before a back injury forced him into retirement. After baseball, he had a long and successful career in advertising and marketing.

Norm is on a tour of minor league parks. After Corpus Christi he travels to Round Rock, San Antonio, Frisco, Oklahoma City and Davenport, Iowa.
