Moustakas, Osuna Take TL Awards

Northwest Arkansas Naturals News Release
For the first time in their two-plus year history, two Naturals' players have won league awards in the same week. New third baseman Mike Moustakas was named as the Texas League Player of the Week and left-hander Edgar Osuna was named as the league's Pitcher of the Week. The awards were announced Monday by Texas League President Tom Kayser and are for the week ending April 25th.
The 21-year old Moustakas didn't even get a full week in the league but certainly made his presence known once joining the Naturals Thursday. He homered in his first two at-bats in the Naturals' victory over the Travelers, hit another homer Saturday, and has driven in eight runs and compiled a .471 average (8-for-17) in his first four games played for Northwest Arkansas.
Despite playing in just four of the Naturals' 16 games thus far, Moustakas, the Kansas City Royals' first round selection (second overall) in 2007 leads the club in homers and is presently third in RBI.
Osuna, the 22-year old hurler from Mazatlan, Mexico, is the lone starting pitcher in the Texas League who has yet to allow an earned run. On the season he has 15 hits allowed and has fanned 14 batters while allowing just one walk.
His strong performance on Thursday night; seven innings, five hits allowed, six strikeouts, and just one walk notched him his first Pitcher of the Week award since he brought home Appalachian League Pitcher of the Week on August 6th, 2007 while pitching for the Danville Braves. Osuna was acquired by the Royals as a Major League Rule 5 selection from the Atlanta Braves last December.
This was the second week in a row that a Naturals pitcher has brought home the Pitcher of the Week award. Right-hander Federico Castaneda, since promoted by the Royals to Triple-A Omaha, won it last week. It had been the first time since 2008 that a Naturals pitcher had won that award.
The Northwest Arkansas Naturals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals and play at state of the art Arvest Ballpark, located in Springdale. You can purchase season tickets and group outings with the Naturals by calling (479) 927-4900.
