Ford Moved to Inactive List, Adam Gordon Signed

August 22, 2012 - North American League (NAmL)
Fort Worth Cats News Release

FORT WORTH - Cats' shortstop Shelby Ford has been dealing with injuries all season long. His hamstrings have given him the most problems, as he has played in just 44 games this season. Ford has been out the last ten games because of his latest injury, his back. Despite the lingering back problem, Shelby Ford has not been ruled out for the postseason yet. Ford has batted .299 with 19 RBIs and 12 doubles.

Fort Worth's coaching staff announced Wednesday morning that the injured Shelby Ford would be added to the inactive list and the signing of utility infielder Adam Gordon will fill the roster. Gordon is a 26-year old right handed hitter that has played almost every position throughout his three seasons in professional baseball. Gordon has United League experience, as he played under Cats' pitching Steve Maddock in Edinburg last year, as well as eight games as a member of the McAllen Thunder this season. Gordon is a .236 career hitter in less than 200 trips to the plate.

Newest Cat Adam Gordon will be wearing number 3 tonight as Fort Worth hosts the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings in their last matchup of the regular season. It will be a crucial game for the Cats, as a win clenches a postseason berth and also puts them tied for second place in the division. First pitch is at 7:05, and tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817)332-CATS.
