Cleveland Force News Release
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Cleveland Force forward Lee Edgerton has been named the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Offensive Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending February 2. Edgerton recorded three goals and three assists for nine points in two weekend games.
The 28-year-old assisted on three goals in Cleveland's 15-10 win over the San Diego Sockers on Friday night, and followed up with a three-goal performance in a 16-14 loss to Kansas City on Sunday. Edgerton's productive weekend continues a recent hot streak that has seen him score 10 goals and assist on seven others for 27 points in his last seven games.
The native of Merced, California is now second on the team and tied for 16th in the MISL with 46 points this season. Edgerton joins Giuliano Oliviero (Nov. 24, 2002) and Chris Stathopoulos (Dec. 8, 2002) as Force players to win weekly Offensive honors this season.
SCHOOL DAY:
The Cleveland Force will be holding its annual School Day Game on Wednesday, February 2nd. The Force will take on the MISL Western Conference leading Milwaukee Wave in front of school kids at 10:35 a.m.
Cleveland will be playing in its second School Day game this season but hosting its first. The Force is 1-0 in early morning games this season as the team defeated the San Diego Sockers 16-12 during San Diego's School Day Game on December 5th.
MOVING ON UP:
Force Forwards Lee Edgerton and Chris Stathopoulos have been climbing the ladder on the scoring list of the MISL.
Edgerton, who is tied for second on the team in scoring with 46 points, has made his first appearance on the MISL leading scorers list as he is tied for 16th. Lee has posted 21 points in his last four games for an average of 5.25 points per contest.
Stathopoulos, who is fourth on the team with 43 points, climbed his way into the league leaders, as he is now 20th in the MISL. Stathopoulos has registered 10 points in last four outings to move his way onto the leader board.
NOT MISSING A STEP:
Force goalkeeper Otto Orf returned to the active roster on Thursday, January 30th and was thrown into action in Friday night's contest.
Orf came into Friday night's game versus the San Diego Sockers when starting goalkeeper Jim Larkin received a two-minute penalty. In his first action in over 10 months, Orf recorded three saves and along with the defense successfully killed off the Sockers power play.
