Georgia Force News Release

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA, March 2, 2005 – Georgia Force quarterback Jim Kubiak suffered a season ending injury to his left knee during the second quarter of Georgia's 66-63 road victory over the Austin Wranglers on February 25th, the club announced today.

"Anytime something like this happens you feel bad for the player. Jim was having an excellent season and had worked really hard to get himself prepared for this year," explained Head Coach Doug Plank. "We are very confident in Matt Nagy's abilities and his leadership skills. He showed us a lot as a quarterback by being able to come in and lead this team to a win in a hostile environment on the road in Austin on Friday night."

After signing as a free agent with the Force this past October, Kubiak has helped lead Georgia to their best start in team history with an AFL best-tying 4-1 record. On the season, he was 104-of-158 passing (65.0%) for 1,148 yards and 22 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He also added three rushes for one yard and one rushing score.

Nagy, a three-year veteran, stepped in for Kubiak last week against the Wranglers and threw seven touchdowns, completing 19-of-25 throws for 257 yards and one interception en route to being named the game's Offensive Player of the Game.

The Force return home to Philips Arena this week to host the Columbus Destroyers (1-3) on Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m. ET. Georgia Force single-game tickets start as low as $7.
