Force Nation Brings the Home Court Advantage

March 20, 2024 - NBA G League (G League)
Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

The Sioux Falls Skyforce currently hold the best home record in the NBA G League with a 10-3 record equating to a 76.9% winning percentage.

The past three NBA Champions have all been dominant on their home court. The 2020-21 Milwaukee Bucks held a 76.6% winning percentage at home through the regular and postseason. The 2021-22 Golden State Warriors had a 79.2% winning percentage at home through the regular and postseason, and the 2022-23 Denver Nuggets went 44-8 at home, a 84.6% winning percentage.

It's evident fans are capable of providing a boost to their team and give them an advantage over the competition.

After spending much of February and early March on a seven-game road trip away from home, it's safe to say the team was ready to return home.

"I did really miss the Pentagon, I missed being in Sioux Falls, South Dakota" said Force big man Malik Williams. "It was great coming home and playing in front of the fans. It was a long road trip with a lot of hard-fought battles and a lot of hotels and traveling. Overall, a lot on the body and mind."

On the road trip, the Force won three of the seven games bringing the team's overall road record to 9-7. It was clear being on the road for so long had an impact on the team's success.

"The road trip went well, obviously you want to win them all but to be able to go 3-4 is something that sets us up in a good position to finish strong with these home games" said Head Coach Kasib Powell of the road trip and returning home to play in the Sanford Pentagon. "I think it puts us in a good position to lead to a good playoff run so we're happy with the road trip and we're extremely happy to have this homestand here."

Skyforce split a four-game home stretch, 2-2, before getting a win in their last regular season road game against the Memphis Hustle. The Force will finish the regular season with four straight home games, two against the Cleveland Charge and two against the Stockton Kings who currently hold first place in the Western Conference. "I love playing here, honestly, I love playing here. I wish we would have had more games here in February but I'm glad we get to finish out on a home stretch here." - Caleb Daniels

The Force will be competing for playoff seeding in a very tight race in the Western Conference. These seedings will determine which teams earn a bye to the conference semifinals, the #1 and #2 seeds, as well as matchups and home court for the playoffs.

The last time Sioux Falls secured the #1 seed they went on to ride their home court advantage through the playoffs and to the championship where they defeated the Los Angeles D-Fenders to win the title after a record setting 40-10 regular season in the 2015-16 season.

It is Force Nation's responsibility to continue to provide the largest home court advantage possible for the playoff push and playoff run that ensues.

"The crowd has been great; the atmosphere has been great all year. I think it's got us to the record we have now only losing three games at home during the regular season so far, so we'll look for the crowd to urge us on and get us over the hump." - Kasib Powell

Tickets for remaining home games can be purchased through Ticketmaster, at the Skyforce office on Minnesota Ave, via phone at 605-332-0605 or at the Pentagon Box office on gameday (pending availability).
