Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release

Boise, ID - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Idaho Stampede tonight 97-91 (5.5, 1.5) to improve to 25-16 on the season. The 'Force held off a late rally and won their third straight contest on the road. Idaho dropped to 21-20 with the loss and remains in third place in the Western Conference standings.

The 'Force needed to focus on the Idaho Stampede even though they were anticipating the matchup with the Western Conference-leading Yakama Sun Kings the following night. The Stampede was the aggressor in the opening quarter as they went ahead 22-9 halfway through the first quarter. However, the 'Force would score 13 unanswered points to tie the game at 22 a piece with just over 1:00 to go in the quarter. After a Geno Carlisle three-pointer put the 'Force ahead 27-24, Randy Livingston hit a long three-pointer and Sioux Falls missed at the buzzer as the score was tied at 27 after one quarter. Idaho won the low scoring second quarter 19-14 but Sioux Falls responded to win the third quarter 28-21 as the 'Force led 69-67 after three quarters. The 'Force took control in the fourth quarter and led by double-digits (91-81) with 3:24 to go in the game after a three-pointer from Carlisle. Idaho would get within four points on several occasions but Sioux Falls made free throws down the stretch and improved to 6-2 against Idaho this season.

The Skyforce's next game is on Saturday, February 25th, on the road against the Yakama Sun Kings. Tip-off is set for 9:05 pm CST at the Yakima Valley SunDome.
