Force Hits Road To Open MISL Playoffs

CLEVELAND, OHIO – The Cleveland Force will travel to Dallas, Texas to take on the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Western Division Champion Dallas Sidekicks in the MISL Quarterfinals on Saturday, April 10 at Reunion Arena. The game will mark the first time these two teams have met in the playoffs since April 26, 1992 when the Sidekicks defeated the Crunch by a final score of 8-4 to win the Major Soccer League (MSL) Semi-finals series 4-2 at Reunion Arena.

Cleveland ended the regular season in third place in the Eastern Division with an overall record of 15-21. The Force, the sixth seed in the playoffs, concluded the season with a record of 6-6 versus Western Division opponents, 3-1 versus the Dallas Sidekicks, and 5-13 on the road. Cleveland went 1-1 this season at Reunion Arena by positing a 6-5 victory in the first meeting of the season on October 19 but then fell 8-2 on December 12.

Dallas, the Western Division Champion, ended the regular season with a record of 21-15 overall, 6-6 versus Eastern Division opponents and 15-3 at home.

The winner of the game will either travel to take on the Milwaukee Wave or the Baltimore Blast, who each received a first round bye, in the MISL Semi-Finals. With a Dallas win, the Sidekicks would travel to Baltimore and if Cleveland posts a victory, the Force would head to Milwaukee on April 16.

Forward Adauto Neto led Cleveland in the season series versus Dallas with seven points. Neto recorded five goals and added two assists in the four games. Forwards Lee Edgerton and Zoran Karic and midfielders John Ball and Braeden Cloutier all finished the season series with four points.

Forward David Doyle and midfielder Martin Dugas, who is on the injured list, led the Sidekicks in the season series with five points. Doyle accounted for three goals and two assists while Dugas tallied two goals and three assists.

Dallas out shot the Force 129-115 in the four games while Cleveland held the advantage in the saves category 66-51. The Sidekicks took the season series on the power play going 3-9 (.33) while the Force went 1-4 (.250).
