
Force Falls To Monterrey

Cleveland Force News Release
CLEVELAND, OHIO. - The Cleveland Force played host to and was defeated by the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Western Division Monterrey Fury by a final score of 5-3 at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University.
With the loss, the fell to 6-15 overall, 3-4 versus MISL Central Division opponents, 0-3 in the season series and 3-8 at the Convo. With the win, the Fury improved to 6-16 overall and 3-5 versus Eastern Division opponents.
Cleveland opened the scoring (1-0) when Antonio Sutton found the back of the net off the pass from John Ball just 28 seconds into the game. Monterrey tied the game (1-1) when Caudido Pereira scored the goal off the pass from Marco "Chikis" Lopez at 4:29. The Fury took their first lead (1-2) when Marco Coria scored the unassisted goal at 10:24.
Monterrey added to its lead and opened the second quarter scoring (1-3) when Pereira scored his second goal of the game off the assist from Lopez at 2:12. The Fury kept the scoring attack going (1-4) when Coria scored the power play goal off the pass from Armando Valdivia at 8:22.
The Force opened the second half scoring and ended a 4-0 run by Monterrey (2-4) when Lee Edgerton found the back of the net off the cross from Myles Stoddard at 29 seconds of the third quarter. Cleveland cut the lead to one goal (3-4) when Justin Evans scored the unassisted goal at 3:42.
The Fury opened the fourth quarter scoring (3-5) when Lopez scored the unassisted restart goal at 12:52.
Cleveland will play host to the MISL Western Division San Diego Sockers on Sunday, February 8 at the Convo. The game can be heard live on WHK 1220 AM in Cleveland as well as 1440 AM WHKW in Warren or worldwide on the Internet at www.thesportsking.com starting at 3:05 p.m.
