
Force Fall in Night One of Playoffs

Three powerplay goals from Tri-City, two scored late in the third gave the Storm a 3-2 win in night one of the three game playoff series.
The Storm kicked off the scoring tonight in the first period of the 2021 Clark Cup Playoffs. Cole McWard put Tri-City on the board a little over halfway through the first period on the Storm's first man advantage of the game. Then, with 2:56 remaining in one Jack Peart tied up the score with a powerplay goal of his own. He ripped one in from the high slot off a feed from Tristan Broz down low. The period closed with an even 1-1 score, the Force leading in shots on goal 8-7.
At 7:03 in the second period Fargo took their first lead of the game. The second Force goal game from Bear Hughes who send in a wide-open shot thanks to a beautiful passing play from Ryan Siedem and Jeremy Davidson. The Force went on their fourth powerplay opportunity of the game but weren't able to make anything happen. Period two closed with a 2-1 Fargo lead, and the Storm outshooting the Force 13-10.
Period three was a back and forth between the two teams for the majority of the first half. Then at 13:27 Tri-City was given a game tying penalty shot opportunity after a hooking call against Owen Gallatin. Tri-City forward Carter Mazur took the shot but was denied by Fargo netminder Brennan Boynton. The Storm saw two more powerplay opportunities after that and capitalized on both of them, taking a 3-2 lead with 5:29 remaining. Fargo saw some good looks at the net but weren't able to squeeze anything past Tri-City goalie, Todd Scott.
Tri-City came away with a 3-2 win putting the Force down 1-0 in game one of this three game playoff series. Fargo will look to come back and win in tomorrow night's 7:05 contest for a chance to play on Sunday and move on to the next round of the 2021Clark Cup Playoffs.
