Sioux Falls Skyforce News Release
Sioux Falls, SD - The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Idaho Stampede in a thriller tonight 94-92 (6, 1). The Skyforce improved their record to 4-3 while Idaho dropped to 2-5 on the season. The 'Force ended a successful three-game road trip 2-1 and currently sit at second place in the Western Conference.
It looked like a repeat of Wednesday night's game as the Stampede came out on fire. Former 'Force guard David Jackson did most of the damage in the first quarter as he had 10 of his 22 points in the opening quarter. Idaho won the first quarter 34-23. Joe Dabbert also countered with 10 points in the first quarter including 2-for-2 from downtown to keep it from getting out of hand early. The 'Force would win the second (26-23) and third (20-19) quarters yet still trailed 76-69 going into the final quarter. The 'Force chipped away at the lead and took their first lead of the game (78-77) after a basket by Noel Felix with 8:00 to go in the contest. The teams continued to trade baskets as there were five ties and five lead changes in the final stanza. Idaho took a 91-90 lead with 1:17 in the game after two successful free-throws from David Jackson. The Stampede then came up with a clutch defensive stop as Matt Freije blocked a Brandon Hunter shot down low. Idaho would cough up the ball with :40 seconds left and Stephen Graham hit a jumper to give the 'Force a 92-91 lead. Jermaine Boyette drew a foul on Jemeil Rich and went 1-for-2 at the charity stripe to tie the game at 92 a piece with :28 seconds left. With :06 remaining in the game and :03 on the shot clock, the 'Force needed a clutch play as they were inbounding the ball under their basket. Brandon Hunter came up with that clutch play as he slipped a screen and slammed the ball in for a 94-92 lead. Ricky Sanchez missed a long two-pointer at the buzzer as the 'Force escaped Idaho with a split.
The Skyforce's next game is on Thursday, December 8th at home against the Albany Patroons. Tip-off is set for 7:05 at the Sioux Falls Arena.
