Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Two empty net goals by the Fargo Force allowed the home team to stretch out a 6-3 win against the Waterloo Black Hawks Saturday at the Urban Plains Center.

The Force scored first but Waterloo held a 2-1 lead after one period. The opening goal of the game came 3:18 after the opening faceoff when Joe Rehkamp flipped a shot under the crossbar. The Hawks responded when Jamie Hill knocked a puck out of midair and into the net at 10:40. Waterloo went ahead with 1:17 remaining before intermission when Patrick Divjak slid a shot into the goal to cap a rush up ice.

Things took a turn for the worse in the second when Fargo scored three times. Colten St. Clair, J.P. Burkemper, and Matt Leitner swung the game in the Force's direction at 6:18, 8:07, and 16:45 respectively. St. Clair and Leitner recorded power play goals.

In the final 20 minutes, J.T. Brown drew the Hawks back within a goal at 11:43, but Corey Leivermann and Burkemper scored when Waterloo put an extra attacker on the ice in the final minute.

With an assist, Derek Arnold extended his point streak to 14 games. Dan Sova also had a helper in the game, the 50th of his USHL career. Fargo had defeated Waterloo 4-2 on Friday.

The Black Hawks play their third consecutive road game Tuesday when they visit the Lincoln Stars.
