DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Fargo Force tied the game in the third period, and defeated Dubuque in a shootout to close out 2011 for the Fighting Saints.

A Fighting Saints defensive zone miscue allowed Bryn Chyzyk to pick up the puck and feed Austin Farley midway through the first period. Farley skated in on Matt Morris and gave Fargo a 1-0 lead with a backhand finish. The Fighting Saints tied the game late in the period on a powerplay opportunity. Just after the Fighting Saints began their man-advantage, Mike Matheson and Tyler Lundey worked the puck to Cody Bradley along the right-wing boards. Bradley drove to the net, and beat Zane Gothberg to tie the game for the Fighting Saints.

Bradley added to his point total in the second period, skating from behind the net and feeding Jono Davis at the left post. Davis tapped the puck home to give the Fighting Saints a 2-1 lead, with Kevin Morris picking up the secondary assist on the goal. The Saints took the 2-1 lead into the third period, with Matt Morris stopping thirteen of fourteen shots through the opening two frames.

Colton Hargrove would tie the game for the Force late in third period. With the Force on the powerplay, Chyzyk fed the puck to Hargrove, who was streaking into the offensive zone. Hargrove fired a powerful shot past Morris to knot the game and send it to overtime. Neither team found the back of the net in the extra five minutes, so the two sides headed to a shootout. Farley was the only player to score for either team in the shootout, with Gothberg making all three stops to give the Force the shootout win.

Saturday's game concluded a stretch of three home games in four days for the Fighting Saints. The Fighting Saints homestand of six games will close on Friday, January 6, when the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders travel to the Key City for a 7:35 p.m. matchup.
