"For Our Kids" teams up with "Hockey 4 Kids"

The Asheville Aces and the City of Asheville are pleased to announce the launch of a new community program called “Hockey For Our Kids.”

Asheville Aces General Manager/Head Coach Jeff Brubaker and City of Asheville Vice-Mayor Carl Mumpower have teamed up to perform and provide an educational program to the young people in the City of Asheville.

Vice-Mayor Mumpower founded the "For Our Kids" program in the effort to better the youth of Asheville. Aces Owner David Waronker is the founder of "Hockey 4 Kids".

“Too many of our children in Asheville are exposed to destructive role models that are strong on harm and short on nurture. Anytime we can get busy, caring, and successful people to step forward and provide positive support and attention to our youth - it makes a difference. Connecting with our Hockey Coach and the Aces has the potential to lay a very helpful touch on a group of our kids who can benefit from a vision of better possibilities,” Mumpower said.

Through the combination of the two foundations, a select group of Asheville youth will be invited to attend hockey games as guests of the Asheville Aces. Coach Brubaker will lecture to the kids about finding their own personal power and teach them to be accountable for decisions they make on their way to adulthood. The first meeting will be January 28th when the Aces meet the Fayetteville Fire Antz.

Throughout his hockey career, Coach Brubaker has had significant success in the cities he has played and coached with his motivational speaking to the children and young adults in the community.
