St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN - Things are about to get messy at CHS Field. In a stunt only the St. Paul Saints, or members of Faber College's infamous Delta House, are crazy enough to try, the organization is going to recreate a scene from one of the more iconic movies ever made, Animal House. As the National Lampoon cult-classic film celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2018, fans attending the August 14 will have an opportunity to participate in a ballpark-wide FOOD FIIIIIGHT!!! presented by Twin Cities Orthopedics.
Bring your friends, family, significant others, and especially your frenemies because this is your chance to partake in a time-honored tradition of a food fight, similar to the one started by John Belushi's character, John "Bluto" Blutarsky in the cafeteria scene from Animal House. In the fourth inning fans can go to the back of their seating section and pick up packs of prepared food that will consist of: mashed potatoes, marshmallows, popcorn, and powdered donuts. Fans may also throw any other items they choose to purchase on their own from the concession stands, with the exception of beverages and anything that could burn your fellow fans. Upon the final out of the 5th inning, fans will turn their attention to the video board and take their cue from Blutarsky. As soon as he yells, "FOOD FIIIIGHT!" that is the crowd's cue to start the most epic 8,000 person, 90-second food-fracas in history. Fearful of getting these delectable items on your clothes, fear not. Each person entering the ballpark that night will be handed a rain poncho, courtesy of Twin Cities Orthopedics, to protect your Gucci printed t-shirts, Versace dresses and Armani suits. If you're worried about your Bottega Veneta briefcase or Michael Kors purse, the Saints are offering a "safe" area over the right field wall on the Spire Home Run Porch which will provide fans that would rather not participate in the food fight with a clean, dry, airborne refreshment free place to view the frenzy from afar.
The Saints are asking fans to bring in non-perishable food items which will be donated to SafeZone, a daytime center started by Face To Face, a Saint Paul organization that serves more than 3,000 homeless and underserved youth and young adults usually ages 11-24. In addition, for every dollar the Saints spend on the food being used in the food fight, they will donate that amount to Second Harvest Heartland, an organization working to end hunger through community partnership.
