Sioux Falls 12, St. Paul 8- Box Score
The Sioux Falls Canaries held on to defeat the St. Paul Saints 12-8 on Monday.
David Bergin (13), Jabari Henry (10) and Patrick Fiala (8) all hit home runs for the Canaries. Henry led the offensive charge, going 4-for-5 with six RBIs. Bergin and Fiala each went 2-for-4 while driving in two.
Jake Esch (4-3) earned the win after striking out eight in eight shutout innings.
The Saints scored all eight of their runs in the bottom of the ninth with three coming on a Jake Smith double, but the deficit proved to be too much.
After the loss, the Saints fell into a tie with the Gary SouthShore RailCats in the North Division standings.
Winnipeg 2, Gary SouthShore 1- Box Score
The Winnipeg Goldeyes (36-45) defeated the Gary SouthShore Railcats (44-35) in a low scoring game on Monday.
The RailCats scored their only run in the bottom of the first when Colin Willis hit an RBI single off Mitchell Lambson (8-3), who earned the win after going 8.2 innings. Victor Capellan came in and struck out the final batter of the game.
The Goldeyes scored both their runs on a two-run double by Tucker Nathans in the top of the sixth.
With the loss, Gary SouthShore fell into a tie with the St. Paul Saints for first place in the North Division standings.
Wichita 7, Cleburne 4- Box Score
The Wichita Wingnuts (50-30) topped the Cleburne Railroaders (26-54) by a score of 7-4 on Monday.
Logan Watkins led the Wingnuts going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, one RBI, one walk, and two stolen bases. Zach Nehrir hit Wichita's only homer run (13), a solo shot. The Wingnuts took what proved to be an insurmountable 5-1 lead with a four-run top of the seventh that included a run scored on an error and a run scored on a wild pitch.
Levi Scott paced the Railroaders, going 2-for-4 with one home run (15) and three RBIs.
With the win, Wichita moved to within a half game of the Kansas City T-Bones for second place in the South Division and nine game of the Sioux City Explorers for first.
