Lakeland, FL - Lakeland Flying Tigers left-handed reliever Alex Burgos was named Florida State League Pitcher of the Week today. The FSL selection was for the period of May 19-25.

Burgos appeared in two games during the week for the Flying Tigers. In 7.2 innings pitched, he allowed only 1 hit and 1 walk without allowing a run and struck out 10 batters. During his May 23 appearance against Charlotte, Burgos struck out 8 of the 12 hitters he faced.

This is Burgos' fifth professional season. He was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the fifth round of the June 2010 draft. He attended the State College of Florida in Bradenton and currently resides in Kissimmee, Florida.
