SERIES AT A GLANCE: The Flying Squirrels will attempt to bounce back with a win when they take on the Bowie Baysox in the opener of a three-game set at The Diamond tonight. Richmond currently trails second place by four games in the race for the Western Division wild-card spot and this series consists of the final three meetings between the two clubs in the 2012 regular season. On Sunday afternoon, Squirrels starter Mike Kickham (10-10) gave up a total of five runs in the first three innings (two in the second inning and three more in the third) and was charged with the loss as Binghamton cruised to a 5-2 victory at NYSEG Stadium. B-Mets starter Gonzalez Germen (7-10) scattered eight hits in seven innings and only gave up two runs. He earned his seventh win of the season for Binghamton. Wes Hodges posted his third straight multi-hit game and Luke Anders drove in a run with a pinch-hit RBI double for Richmond. The reliever tandem of Jacob Dunnington and Austin Fleet combined to toss four scoreless innings for the Flying Squirrels and Fleet retired all six batters he faced. Richmond is 35-39 all-time against Bowie and the club is 20-17 all-time at The Diamond. The two teams will meet 24 times in 2012, 10 times in Bowie and 14 times in Richmond.

Richmond won two out of three games between the two clubs in Bowie April 9-11 and the two teams split a four-game series at The Diamond from April 30 through May 3. The Flying Squirrels won three out of four from the Baysox at The Diamond from May 10 through May 13. The teams split a four-game series in Bowie May 21 through May 24. Bowie took two of three from the Squirrels in Bowie July 23 through July 25 and also won two out of three when the clubs met in Richmond August 10 through August 12.

TODAY'S PITCHERS: RHP Justin Fitzgerald vs. RHP Dylan Bundy Fitzgerald: Makes his twenty-sixth start of the season for the Flying Squirrels tonight. In his last start, Fitzgerald allowed four hits and no runs and he recorded six strikeouts in eight innings pitched at New Britain Wednesday. He received a no-decision in Richmond's 4-3 setback in 10 innings. Tonight's game will be Fitzgerald's seventh career start against Bowie. He is 2-1 with a 3.71 ERA against the Baysox. Fitzgerald is currently fourth in the Eastern League in innings pitched (145.1) and fourth in the circuit in opponents' batting average (.227). Last season, Fitzgerald went 9-9 and posted a 3.51 ERA in a team-high 27 starts with Richmond.

He also led the 2011 Flying Squirrels pitching staff in innings pitched (146.1), finished second on the club in wins (9) and walks allowed (55) and third in strikeouts (111). As a result, Fitzgerald was named an Eastern League Mid-Season All-Star. He also posted a 1-0 mark with a 2.70 ERA in two playoff starts and earned the win in the clinching game of Richmond's sweep of Harrisburg in the Western Division Championship Series. In 2010, he posted a 10-6 record with a 3.45 ERA in 26 appearances, including 25 starts, with Advanced-A San Jose and earned a spot on the California League Mid-Season All-Star team. Fitzgerald owns a 29-24 record with a 3.50 ERA in 134 career minor league appearances, including 77 starts. The Santa Rosa, Calif. native was selected by the Giants in the 11th round of the 2008 June Draft out of UC-Davis.

Bundy: Makes his twenty-first start of the season and his second for Bowie tonight. Bundy began his professional career with Low-A Delmarva in April and he posted a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA in eight starts with the Shorebirds. He allowed just two unearned runs in his stint with Delmarva. He was promoted to Advanced-A Frederick on May 25 and he went 6-3 with a 2.98 ERA in eleven starts with the Keys. He was selected to the Carolina League's mid-season All-Star team and earned Carolina League Pitcher-of-the-Week honors for the week of July 30 through August 6. Bundy was promoted to Double-A Bowie on August 14 and he made his first Eastern League start that night against Erie. He allowed five hits and three runs, two of which were earned, along with three walks and three strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched. Bundy earned the win in Bowie's 5-3 triumph. Tonight's game will be his first career start against the Flying Squirrels. Bundy boasts a career record of 8-3 with a 2.01 ERA in 20 starts. Bundy was selected by Baltimore in the first round of the 2011 June Draft out of Owasso (OK) High School. He is the younger brother of Bowie pitcher Bobby Bundy and entered the season ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the Orioles' farm system.

DYNAMIC DUO: Richmond relievers Jacob Dunnington and Austin Fleet combined to toss four scoreless innings in Sunday's loss at Binghamton. For Dunnington, it was the second straight outing in which he has pitched two innings and he has not allowed a run in his last four outings (6 IP). It was Fleet's third straight scoreless outing (4 IP) and he is 1-0 during this stretch. The two relievers have fared very well against Bowie this season. Fleet is 0-0 with one save and a 1.42 ERA in five appearances (6.1 IP) against the Baysox. Dunnington is 0-0 with no saves and a 3.00 ERA in two appearances (3.0 IP) against the Baysox.

BRING ON THE BAYSOX: The Flying Squirrels will attempt to gain ground on Bowie in the race for the Western Division wild-card spot. To date, Richmond has won 11 of the 21 meetings between the two clubs. But the Squirrels trail Bowie by four games. Offensively, Daniel Mayora and Johnny Monell have fared well against Bowie in 2012. Mayora is batting .329 (25-for-76) with one home run and 13 RBIs and Monell is batting .322 (19-for-58) with two home runs and nine RBIs against Bowie this season.
