Flying Aces Alumni Selected to Team USA World Junior Roster

Central Illinois Flying Aces News Release

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - USA Hockey has announced their roster for the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship tournament that will begin December 26th and carry into the new year through the championship game on January 5th. Among the immensely talented Team USA roster is former Central Illinois Flying Aces center, Tyler Madden.

The Aces acquired Madden prior to the 2017-2018 season where he would go on to accumulate thirty-four points (15 G, 19 A) during his stints with the Aces and the Tri-City Storm. Madden was also selected to the USHL Top Prospects game last season held in Kearney, Nebraska. He scored two goals and lead his team to a 4-3 victory, earning himself the honor of being named the game's MVP.

This outstanding performance could have aided the Vancouver Canucks' choice in selecting Tyler in the 3rd round (#68 overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old is currently playing at Northeastern University with fellow former Aces player, Jeremy Davies. In Madden's first thirteen games in NCAA Division I play, he has cemented his status as an offensive threat as he has netted five goals and tallied six assists thus far.

This news arrives less than a month after it was announced that current Flying Aces captain Trevor Janicke, as well as alternate captain Cal Kiefiuk, will be representing Team USA in the 2018 World Junior A Challenge that Tyler Madden participated in last year. The challenge will be taking place December 9-16 in Bonnyville, Alberta.
