Flyers Take Game 1
June 23, 2007 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Orange County Flyers News Release
The Orange County Flyers spotted Yuma a 5-0 lead through three innings and then scored nine straight runs to take the first game of the doubleheader at Goodwin Field.
Alex McRobbie persevered through a tough start and pitched a complete game for his second win of the season in front of a raucous home crowd. Mark Okano dealt the first blow for the Flyers with a three-run homerun to excite the home crowd in the 4th inning and make the score 5-3 Yuma.
The Flyers tied the game with two runs in the 5th inning with back-to-back doubles from Gabe Mayorga and Dave Bacani.
After a Yuma error put the Flyers in front 6-5, Bacani landed the knockout punch with a two-run triple off Yuma reliever Matt Saucedo. Garry Templeton II contributed to both rallies with RBIs.
Alex McRobbie retired the last 12 batters he faced and struck out seven.
Nate Holguin will start game 2 of the doubleheader as the Flyers try and move within 1.5 games of Yuma.
