Flyers Lose in 12 Innings

The Flyers stay over the .500 mark was short lived after they lost a heartbreaker to the Reno Silver Sox 5-4 on a walk-off homerun by Marcus Jensen in the 12th inning. Fullerton broke a 1-1 tie in the top of the 6th inning when Peanut Williams cranked his 1st homerun of the season over the left field wall. The lead was extended to 3-1 when Rick Elder scored on an RBI groundout by Sandy De Leon.

The Silver Sox answered in the bottom of the 6th inning when reliever Nick Casanova gave up a 3-run HR to Doug Gredvig.

The Flyers tied it at 4 in the 7th when Bret Levier led the inning off with a triple. He scored on Peanut Williams third RBI of the night.

The Silver Sox held the Flyers scoreless through the final 5 innings behing great relief pitching from Nate Sevier and Scott Schneider.

The Flyers got four scoreless innings of relief from southpaw Matt Lincoln, who struck out 5.

Robert Mason relieved Matt Lincoln in the twelfth and retired the first two batters before giving up the homerun to Jensen.

Both starting pitchers did not receive a decision despite pitching well. Flyers SP Jeff Groeger gave up three runs in 5+ innings of work. Jared Bonnell was finished after five innings and gave up only one run.

The series is now tied at 1-1 with the rubber match coming tomorrow at 6:35.

The Flyers record is now 3-3, while the Silver Sox moved to 3-2.
