
Flyers Extend Win Streak to Eight

ST. GEORGE - Orange County kept St. George scoreless over the last four innings to hang on for a 5-4 series opening win Tuesday night at Bruce Hurst Field. The triumph extends the Flyers' GBL-best winning streak to eight games.
St. George dropped to 15-8 on the year.
RoadRunner starter Eric Van Slyke surrendered a solo home run to CF Travis Becktel in the sixth that proved to be the game winners. Van Slyke (2-2) scattered all five OC runs in seven innings while striking out six.
Jesse Smith tossed six innings of four run ball to earn his third win. Four relievers combined to allow just two hits. Bryan Harris pushed past a ninth inning walk and an error to notch his fifth save.
Nick Guerra led the Flyer offense with three hits. Damian Jackson and a debuting Juan Senreiso added two hits each.
Juan Serrano went 3-for-3 from the nine spot and Yosvany Almario had two single with two RBI for the RoadRunners. The five through eight hitters struggled going 0-for-15 with a walk.
Game two is set for Wednesday night at 7:05pm.
