Orange County Flyers News Release

VICTORIA, British Columbia - The Victoria Seals capitalized on a Flyers error to score the winning run in extra innings, 8-7, at Royal Athletic Park on Saturday to sweep the doubleheader. A throwing error on shortstop Tyler Keeble provide the Seals the winning run in the eighth inning.

The error overshadowed an otherwise breakout performance from Keeble at the plate, who went 2-for-4 with a double and his first professional homerun.

Former Seals slugger Sergio Pedroza, who was traded to the Flyers just before the season, drove in the tying run in the top of the seventh for Orange County. Reliever Bryan Harris pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the seventh to force extra innings at Royal Athletic Park in the second game of Saturday's twin bill.

The Seals took a 7-6 lead with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. Sean Smith singled and stole second, and a two-base error allowed him to score when Ben Johnson dropped what would have been the third out on a Wilver Perez fly ball.

Orange County tied the game in the top of the sixth when Tyler Keeble doubled and two batters later Derek Perren drove him, making it 6-6.

Keeble blasted his first home run of the season, a two-run shot over the left field wall to give Orange County an early 3-1 lead.

The Flyers will send former NL All-Star Byung-Hyun Kim to the mound in the series finale against the Seals at Royal Athletic Park on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35pm, and the games can be heard live through the team website, www.OrangeCountyFlyers.com.
