Tucson Toros News Release
Yuma, AZ - The Toros winless skid reached seven games after Tucson was swept by the Yuma Scorpions 5-3 Saturday night. The sweep was the second consecutive against the Toros and the loss dropped Tucson's record to 3-7 after beginning the season 3-0.
The game continued the team's early season trends of giving up runs early and not scoring until late in the game. Tucson allowed a run in the 1st and four more in the 3rd to go down 5-0. The team would close the gap with 3 runs in the top of the 8th to cap the scoring.
Rightfielder Victor Ferrante drove in two runs with a pair of hits, including a double, to lengthen his active hitting streak to nine games.
Tucson's bullpen held the Scorpions scoreless in five innings of work, including the debut of righthander Brian Bannister who struck out four in three innings.
The team will have two days off and will then return home for a three game homestand starting Tuesday, June 1st against the Victoria Seals. The games can be heard live on COOL 1450 AM or video streaming over the internet at www.tucsontoros.com.
