Edmonton Capitals News Release
St. George, UT - The Edmonton Capitals played seven good innings of baseball Saturday night in St. George. It was the eighth that did them in. The RoadRunners exploded for seven runs in the eighth inning to bust open a tied game and ended up beating the Caps 9 - 2. St. George's rally came with two outs in that fateful inning and they racked up three doubles and three walks to keep the runners circling the bases. Edmonton's Jorge Cortes was a bright spot at the dish for the visitors going 3 for 4 on the evening. Starting pitcher Alexander Francisco only gave up three hits in his six innings of work. Scott Clement had the hot bat for the home team with a pair of doubles and a single plus three RBI for his day's work.
Edmonton's record slips to 3 - 7 as they wrap up their first road swing of the season. The players will head to Edmonton for the first time this year because they all reported to training camp in Tucson at the beginning of this month.
The Caps will start a thirteen game home stand on Tuesday. 2009 Most Valuable Pitcher Lou Pote will get the start in the Home Opener against Maui Na Koa Ikaika. First pitch at TELUS Field is at 7 p.m.
The Edmonton Capitals are Edmonton's first choice for professional baseball and family entertainment. Capitals season seats start at under $9 per game and individual game tickets are available for just $10 every game. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations, the TELUS Field Box Office during regular business hours, at (780) 414-GOAL (4625) or online at capsbaseball.ca.
