GREENEVILLE, TENN. - A six-run third inning along with allowing just two hits over the final seven innings helped the Elizabethton River Riders defeat the Greeneville Flyboys, 7-3, at Pioneer Park on Friday.

The offense came alive early for the Flyboys in the bottom of the first, as Ian Daugherty (Oklahoma State) hit his fourth home run of the season, a three-run shot putting Greeneville up, 3-0.

After that Ryan Schiefer (Grand Canyon) walked the first two batters in the top of the third, and an RBI double by Issac Williams (New Orleans) scored Austin Roccaforte (Houston Baptist) to cut the lead to 3-1. Back-to-back walks by Schiefer first loaded the bases and then scored Peyton Basler (Charleston Southern) to make it a 3-2 ballgame. Avery Owusu-Asiedu (SIU-Edwardsville) broke the game wide open for Elizabethton, with a three-run double to put the Riders up, 5-2. A groundout by Brody Green (TCU) scored Owusu-Asiedu and Elizabethton swelled the lead to 6-2.

The River Riders extended the lead in the top of the fifth, as a Basler RBI single brought home Connor Price (Long Island) to make it a 7-3 lead.

After the second inning, the Elizabethton pitching staff walked two Flyboy batters and allowed two hits, both from Shemar Dalton (NCA&T), over the final seven innings to completely shut down the Greeneville offense.
