Florida-Native Blair Returns to Ice Flyers for Third Season

PENSACOLA, Fla.- The Pensacola Ice Flyers, the 2016 Southern Professional Hockey League President's Cup Champions, are pleased to announce the re-signing of defenseman Brandon Blair.

"It's a privilege to have the opportunity to play a third year in Pensacola," said Blair. "The fans, team staff, and city have made Pensacola into a top notch, winning organization and I could not be happier to return." A native of Coral Springs, Fla., Blair appeared in 55 regular season games last year and had one goal, six assists, 164 penalty minutes (PIM), and a +3 plus/minus rating. In the Ice Flyers' seven playoff games, Blair had one goal, two assists, six PIM, and a +4. New Ice Flyers head coach Kevin Hasselberg had this to say about Blair, "Brandon has more than established himself in the SPHL. He will do anything for his teammates and is extremely proud of the Ice Flyers logo. I am excited to see his game evolve with more responsibilities added to his role for the 2016-17 season. Brandon will be an anchor on our backend and an excellent role model to our younger players."

Blair's championship experience goes beyond his time with the Ice Flyers as he is a two-time champion having won the 2016 SPHL President's Cup as well as the 2014 Federal Hockey League Commissioner's Cup with the Dayton Demonz. The Ice Flyers begin the 2016-17 regular season on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7:05 p.m. inside the Pensacola Bay Center when they face off against the Fayetteville FireAntz. It will be Championship Celebration Night inside the Hangar for the third time in four seasons as the team raises their 2016 President's Cup banner to the rafters.
