Flint Takes Game Five 4-3 and Lead Series 3-2

WINDSOR, ON. - The Spitfires dominated possession and had a huge shot advantage but saw their 2-0 lead vanish and Flint scrapped out a narrow 4-3 win.

In the first period, the Spitfires dominated the game and outshot Flint 18-5. The Spitfires got on the board first just over halfway through the period. Renwick skated up the ice and passed it to O'Flaherty, his shot bounced off the pads of Cavallin and right onto the stick of Johnston who scored his 11th of the postseason. Just 5 minutes later, Cuylle drove into the Firebird zone and passed the puck back to Perrott whos' shot was stopped and the rebound came out to Christopoulos who scored his 7th of the postseason. Late in the period, Flint would score twice to tie things up heading into the intermission.

In the second period, the Firebirds scored twice within the first 8 minutes to go up 4-2. Onuska appeared to be hurt after Flint's third goal and was taken out of the game. Medina stood tall allowing just one goal on 11 shots. The Spitfires responded late in the period with a goal from Cuylle on the powerplay. Johnston and Henault had the assists on the goal.

In the third period, the Spitfires threw everything to the net and hit the post twice but the puck stayed out. Flint would hang on to a narrow 4-3 win and take a 3-2 series lead heading back to Flint.

Game 6 is scheduled for Tuesday night in Flint with puck drop at 7:00pm.
