Roanoke Dazzle News Release
ROANOKE , Va , December 5, 2003 â The Huntsville Flight trailed by 8 points at the end of the third quarter, but went on to outscore the Dazzle 34-14 in the fourth, earning them a 108-100 win over Roanoke.
Huntsville led by 49-48 going into the half. The Dazzle came out strong in the third. Mikki Moore scored 18 of his 24 points and helped give Roanoke an eight point advantage. But Huntsville turned on the defense in the fourth, holding the Dazzle to 17.6 percent shooting.
Rick Apodaca made two shots with 8:43 left in the fourth to give the Flight a 90-88 led. Apodaca led the Flight with 20 points. Erick Barkley also collected 20.
"It came down to the end, and they just out worked us in the fourth quarter," said Dazzle Head Coach Kent Davison. "We had a big lead and we felt like this game was over. They found energy in the beginning of the fourth quarter and we just didn't match it."
The Flights bench contributed 47 points opposed to the Dazzle's 16. The Flight shot 69.9 percent from the field.
Mikki Moore led the Dazzle with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Josh Asselin racked up his second double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
"We took Mikki Moore out of the game towards the end of the third quarter," said Huntsville Head Coach Ralph Lewis. "We were successful at doing that into the fourth and that's what helped us win the game.
Huntsville remains undefeated and moves in to first place. While the Dazzle falls to second with a 3-1 record. The Dazzle play again Saturday night at 7 p.m. versus Asheville. The Huntsville Flight play the Fayetteville Patriots tomorrow at 7 p.m.
