Flash Trio to Suit up for USWNT Tonight
October 19, 2016 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Western New York Flash News Release
SANDY, UT --- The Western New York Flash's Abby Dahlkemper, Sam Mewis and Lynn Williams are in Sandy, Utah this week for the October U.S. Women's National Team camp. The trio is part of the 24-player roster for two friendly matches against Switzerland on Oct. 19 at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, Utah and Oct. 23 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Dahlkemper, 23, earned her first call up to the National Team after logging a remarkable 2,040 minutes - every possible minute in the 2016 season. The defender was a staple on the Flash's back line in all 22 games and was voted the 2016 WNY Flash Defender of the Year.
Mewis, 24, will be returning to the National Team after traveling as an alternate with the team to the 2016 Olympic Games. Mewis logged 16 matches for the Flash, with 7 goals and 3 assists - including the first tally in the Flash's 3-2 (ET) win against the Washington Spirit in last week's NWSL Championship.
Williams, 23, also earned her first call up to the National Team after a remarkable season where she won the NWSL MVP and Golden Boot awards. Williams topped the league with 11 goals in the regular season, and added 3 in the playoffs - all three coming in extra time. The forward scored the equalizer in the 124' of the Flash's NWSL Championship win, and then went on to convert her penalty kick.
The Flash will be looking to defend their title in 2017, and season tickets are now available: http://bit.ly/2bEjtpe
