Flash Open New Year with Loss to Jam

Orem, UT - The Bakersfield Jam (10-6) ended the Utah Flash's (7-6) three-game winning streak in tonight's game with a final score of 99-83. The Jam led for the majority of the game with the largest lead of 18 occurring in the fourth quarter.
The Jam came out strong offensively holding the Flash to a 15-4 lead. The Flash jumped back into the game, and ended the quarter only one point down with the score at 20-19. In the first quarter Bennet Davis and Pape Sy led the team in points with four each. Davis also had four rebounds, along with Nkem Ojougboh's four defensive rebounds.
Brandon Costner tied the game with two free throws with less than eight minutes in the first half. The Jam quickly regained the lead, but scoring went back and forth between the teams with a final first half score of 46-35. The Flash bench led the scoring in the first half with 19 points, Ryan Thompson led in team scoring with seven points. Davis continued to lead in rebounds with five in the first half.
The Flash came out in the second half and managed to hold the Jam to just 16 points in the third quarter. Utah scored 24 points of their own and trailed by only three at the end of the third.
Kevin Kruger led the Flash's scoring with 18 points, half of those points coming from three pointers. Nkem Ojougboh had an impressive 11 rebounds.
The game's high scorer was the Jam's Jeremy Wise with 25 points, followed by Trey Johnson with 24 points. The Jam's newly assignee from the Lakers, Devin Ebanks, had the games only double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
The Flash executed some impressive plays spotlighting their athleticism during the first half. Kevin Kruger saved the ball from going out of bounds while directly passing it to Ojougboh for a basket. In the second quarter Brian Hamilton had a swift steal under Bakersfield's basket that resulted in a court-long pass.
This is the Flash's second game against the Jam this season. The series is tied 1-1. They play again on Monday night at 7 P.M. at the UCCU Events Center in Orem, Utah. Tickets are available by calling (801) 801-434-HOOP (4667).
