Texas Legends News Release

Frisco, TX - The Texas Legends dropped their first game of 2011 on Saturday night, falling 99-94 to the Tulsa 66ers at HP Court inside Dr Pepper Arena.

The Legends jumped out on top 7-0 to start the game and would maintain that lead until midway through the second quarter. With Texas on top 38-30, Tulsa would go on a 10-2 run to tie the game at 40.

Skip to the third quarter, when the Legends were up by six with just under seven minutes left in the quarter. Once again the 66ers would come right back and go on a 13-2 spurt and take a five-point lead. Then down six with 30 seconds left in the quarter, Booker Woodfox and Dominique Jones would hit back-to-back three's to take a one-point lead of their own going into the final quarter.

For the second straight game, the Legends wouldn't quit until the final buzzer. Down by four with 13.8 seconds to go, Booker Woodfox would draw a foul on a three-point attempt and hit all three free throws to cut the deficit to one. On the next possession, Zabian Dowdell would take a foul and hit both shots from the charity stripe, putting Tulsa back up by three.

With a chance to tie the game, a Woodfox three-pointer would fall short, conserving the win for Tulsa.

The Legends were led by Joe Alexander, who had his fifth double-double of the season. His 28 points and 14 rebounds were both game-highs. Dallas Mavericks assignee Dominique Jones added 20 points.

Elijah Millsap was the team leader for Tulsa putting in 17 points, while Robert Vaden contributed with 15.

The Legends fell to 8-6 overall after the loss, while the 66ers improved to 10-6 on the year.

The Legends will continue a five-game home stand tomorrow against the New Mexico Thunderbirds, with a late afternoon tip-off set for 5:00 p.m.
