June 5, 2015 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Western New York Flash News Release

ELMA, N.Y. (Friday, June 5, 2015) - After a bye week, the Western New York Flash will return to action on Saturday night when it hosts top-seeded Chicago Red Stars at 7 p.m. ET at Sahlen's Stadium.

About the Matchup

The Flash will look to be the first to hand the Red Stars a loss this season, as Chicago enters Saturday's match with a 4-0-3 record. The Flash have not lost a game at home to Chicago in the previous two NWSL seasons and went 1-1-1 against the Red Stars in 2014.

The Flash will see the return of Chantel Jones between the pipes, after the goalkeeper served a one-game suspension during the Flash's last contest. With Sabrina D'Angelo still recovering from a right AC joint injury, the Flash has called up amateur goalkeeper Annie Brunner.

Brunner, 23, stood out during her collegiate career at Colorado University as one of the program's greatest all-time goalkeepers. Starting every season since her freshman year, she received many national and conference recognitions such as Big 12 Newcomer of the Week and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week. After ending her senior year (2013) with career-best figures with 87 saves, 3.78 saves a game and 14 wins, she signed with FC Neunkirch of the Switzerland Nationalliga A.
