
Flash Finish Strong In Win Over Wizards

Orem, UT- Dec. 7, 2009- The Utah Flash opened the season tonight with a crowd of 7,542 in attendance and handed the Dakota Wizards their third loss of the season.
The game started off with an enthusiastic crowd. The first quarter featured both teams battling back and forth for the lead. Right after the Flash had back to back turnovers they went on an eight point run highlighted by Lee Cummard's 3-pointer. The Flash shot 51% from the field in the quarter and were led by Bennet Davis's six points. Curtis Withers seven points led the Wizards in the quarter.
Orien Green highlighted the second half with nine straight points including an impressive lay-up plus a foul to convert a three point play. The Flash led by four after Dontell Jefferson scored his first points of the night with 4:32 left in the half making it 37-33. The Wizards went on a late run to lead the game 51-43 while shooting almost 60 % in the half.
Jefferson came out firing in the second half hitting the first eight points of the quarter for the Flash. Head Coach Brad Jones was hit with a technical foul with three minutes into the quarter which led to an 11 point deficit with the score 51-62. A rally by Jefferson and Green brought the Flash within one point of the lead with just five minutes to play in the third quarter. They ended the third quarter down five points with the score 72-77 and were led by Jefferson's 14 points in the quarter.
The fourth quarter looked like it was going to slide away in favor of the Wizards going up 88-79 with just under 10 minutes left in the game. The Flash didn't give up and battled back to tie the game on a Jefferson foul plus lay-up with 4:00 left in the game. A Green lay-up then had the Flash up two points. They continued to take it to the Wizards with a Wheeler slam and Jefferson free throw to take the lead 95-90. Green then beat the shot clock on a lay-up to put the Flash up seven points with under a minute to play and cap off a 14-0 scoring drive late in the fourth. A huge block by Bennet Davis with :25 seconds left in the game sealed the deal for the Utah Flash to pull of a very exciting and impressive come from behind victory beating the Wizards 102-92.
Greene was the high man for the Flash scoring 25 points and adding seven rebounds. Jefferson went 3-3 from beyond the arc and ended the game with 24 points and seven assists. Andre Ingram scored 20 and Carlos Wheeler added 14 in the impressive victory.
The Wizards were led by Jason Straight and his 21 points. Romel Beck had 17 with David Bell and Curtis Withers adding 14 each. The Wizards drop to 2-3 while the Flash improve to 5-1.
