Flames Announce Second Annual Face Off Breakfast

Saint John, NB – The Saint John Flames Hockey Club announced today the second annual Flames Face-off Breakfast in support of the United Way of Greater Saint John will take place Thursday, October 10 at 7:30 a.m. at the Delta Brunswick hotel.

The Flames Face-off Breakfast will feature all of the players, coaches and trainers of the Flames and will officially launch the ClubÂ’s 2002-03 season, which begins on the ice the following evening.

Tickets for the event, which includes a buffet style breakfast and a question and answer session with the Flames coaching staff, are available individually or in tables of eight. Each table will include one member of the Flames organization. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to the United Way Campaign.

“We enjoyed a great event last year and I expect an even greater response to this year’s breakfast,” stated United Way Campaign Chairman Tom Davidson of TD Waterhouse. “The Saint John Flames have been a major supporter of the United Way since the franchise was established 10 years ago. This breakfast is just another example of the contribution the Flames make to the Greater Saint John community.”

Tickets, which are priced at $18 for adults and $5 for children fourteen years and under when accompanied by an adult, are available through the Flames office by calling 635-2637 and through the United Way office by calling 658-1212.

The United Way of Greater Saint John has raised over $33 million since its inception in 1959. Last year, the efforts of the United Way of Greater Saint John helped fund 26 member agencies. The goal of the 2002 campaign will be announced September 19 at the Saint John Trade & Convention Centre.

Flames season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at the Flames administrative office located on the second floor of Harbour Station or by calling 635-2637.

The 2002-03 season marks the Saint John FlamesÂ’ tenth as a member of the AHL and as the primary development organization of the National Hockey LeagueÂ’s Calgary Flames.
