Saint John Flames News Release
Saint John, NB - The Saint John Flames announced today a significant change to its radio broadcasts for the current season. Effective with the Club's game in Albany, NY on Tuesday (November 12), all remaining Flames regular season and playoff games will be broadcast live in their entirety on NewSong FM (96.1). Play-by-play duties will be handled by former Flames colour commentator Bruce Smith.
"We made a commitment to our fans to continue exploring opportunities to once again broadcast all of our games live to the Saint John market," stated Flames Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Stew MacDonald. "We are pleased to have been able to reach an agreement well ahead of our expected timeline.
"It was only with the full cooperation of our broadcast partner for the last four seasons, Country 94, and the resourcefulness and commitment of our new carrier, NewSong FM, that this announcement was possible. We look forward to hearing Bruce on the air when we take to the road next week."
NewSong FM general manager Don Mabee was pleased the station could play a role in the Flames future.
"We are, first and foremost, a community station and we view the Flames as an integral part of our community," he said. "We are proud to be part of the solution of returning all Flames games to the air and look forward to a very exciting season of Flames hockey."
