Five Xplorers Named to All-af2 Teams

Southaven, MS-The Memphis Xplorers of the af2 have five players announced to the 2005 All-af2 teams. The news was announced earlier out of the af2 league office. Five players from the same team is a league best for 2005

The Xplorers two defensive specialists, Khreem Smith and Dahnel Singfield, were named to the All-af2 first team. Smith finished the regular season with 17.0 sacks, which led the league. It was also an Xplorers franchise record. He also added six forced fumbles, three recoveries, 33.5 tackles, two blocked kicks, and a safety. Singfield led the af2 in interceptions with 12, which was also a single season Xplorers record. His 62 pass breakups were good for first in the league, and his 76.5 tackles led the team. Singfield was All-af2 second team in 2004.

Terrell Adams earned second team honors. Adams had 57 receptions for 779 yards and 15 TDs, along with 18 carries for 74 yards and five TDs. Defensively, he recorded 37.0 tackles, including three for a loss, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and 13 pass deflections.

Both Joseph Crear and Kevin Prentiss were named All-af2 for the second consecutive year. Crear recorded 15 tackles, including three for a loss. He also added 1.5 sacks, two QBHs, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two blocked kicks. Prentiss led the Xplorers in receiving yards for the second straight season with 1,627 yards. He also scored 264 points on 40 receiving TDs, and four kick return TDs. Prentiss also set franchise records for return yards (1,419) and receptions (103).

Players are voted to the All-af2 teams by coaches and beat writers throughout the af2. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players.

"I was pleased to see that the other teams in the league respect the talents and accomplishments of these individuals," said Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto. "I know that these five guys are really proud of the work they did, and I also know that they would trade it all for an ArenaCup Championship."

The Xplorers won the 2005 Mid West Division and will host the Rio Grande Valley Dorados in the National Conference Championship Game this Friday night at the DeSoto Civic Center at 7:30pm.
