Fire Puts Four on All-af2 Teams

The Louisville Fire Arena Football team finished the 2005 season a franchise best 11-5 and has earned a bid in the American Conference Championship game now the individual accolades are starting to come in. The Fire has placed four players on the American Conference All-af2 First and Second teams. Quarterback Matthew Sauk and Kicker Danny Kight were both named first team and FB/LB Demetrius Forney and OL/DL Andrew Tippins were each named to the second team.

Sauk finished the 2005 season with an af2 record 99 touchdown passes and 4,489 yards, also an af2 record. This is the first time Sauk has earned All-af2 First team honors; he was named to the All-af2 Second Team in 2001 and 2003 with Tennessee Valley.

This is also Kight's first time as an All-af2 recipient. Kight established a league high with a 61-yard field goal at Albany on June 24. Kight also led the league in extra points made with 92, and was fourth in the league in points scored kicking with 119.

Forney was named second team fullback/linebacker for the first time in his career. Forney set an af2 record with five rushing touchdowns against Birmingham on April 30 in Freedom Hall. Last week against Manchester Forney sealed the victory with 14 yard touchdown run with three minutes left.

Tippins is also joining the all-Af2 team for the first time ever. Against Manchester on July 23 Tippins recorded and af2 high 3.5 sacks. Tippins was second in the league in forced fumble with five and ninth in sacks with 4.5 and he only played in seven games.
