PEORIA, AZ - The Portland Beavers scored five unearned runs in the fifth inning Tuesday to rally for a 7-4 win over the Omaha Royals at the San Diego Padres Spring Training complex in Peoria. The loss drops the Royals' exhibition record to 4-2.

Omaha led 4-2 entering the bottom of the fifth, when Portland scored the unearned runs off Canadian right-hander Matt Kniginysky. Royals starter Federico Castaneda had allowed just one run in three innings. Carlos Rosa blanked the Beavers on no hits in the sixth and seventh innings, striking out three. Chris Hayes finished with a perfect eighth.

At the plate for the Royals, Ed Lucas went 2-for-3 including a solo home run in the fourth inning that put Omaha in front 4-1. Jamie Romak was 3-for-4 and knocked in two runs.

On Wednesday, the Royals will face the Oklahoma City RedHawks, the Rangers Triple-A affiliate, at the complex that Kansas City and Texas share in Surprise.
