
Five Steelhawks Named to All-PIFL Teams

Bethlehem, PA - In release made today, the league office of the Professional Indoor Football League announced their First and Second team All-League Players. In all, five Steelhawks were named for their accomplishments this season. Quarterback Adam Bednarik was named as the Steelhawks lone First Team member while Wide Receivers Tom Gilson and Tyrone Collins, Defensive lineman Larry Ford, and Linebacker Terence Thomas were named to the Second Team.
PIFL First Team Quarterback Adam Bednarik (6'2", West Virginia University) has been arguably the league's Most Valuable Player this season, leading the Steelhawks to a 7-5 regular season record and the third seed in the PIFL Playoffs. The Steelhawks signal caller threw for 2,837 yards and 53 touchdowns while completing an unheard of 70% of his passes. In addition, Bednarik rushed for 99 yards and seven additional scores. Bednarik now will attempt to lead the Steelhawks to their first ever league championship
PIFL Second Team WR Tom Gilson (6'2", UMASS) in his first professional football season was two receptions shy of the league's lead with 93. He also is one of the few team members to play in all twelve games this season. His 946 yards receiving and 19 touchdowns were among the league's best as well, and the trio of Gilson, Gibson, and Collins shattered the Steelhawks personal record books.
WR Tyrone Collins was also named to the PIFL Second Team. In just nine games this season, Collins used his game breaking speed to accumulate 76 receptions for 814 yards and 14 touchdowns. In addition he lead the league in receptions per game with 8.44 and all-purpose yards per game with 112.
Defensive Lineman Larry Ford (6'4", West Virginia) led the Steelhawks this season along the line this season, accumulating 7.5 sacks in 12 games this year. Included in his stat lines were three forced fumbles and an additional three fumble recoveries league lead). The Steelhawks are counting on Ford to force a lot of pressure on the opposing Quarterbacks in the playoffs.
Rounding out the Second Team All-PIFL is Linebacker Terence Thomas (6'1", Villanova). Thomas, also playing in his Rookie Professional season was a force at Mac Linebacker in 2013. Thomas finished the regular season with 29.5 tackles, four sack, and four forced fumbles.
The Steelhawks, led by these ALL-PIFL performers, earned themselves the #3 seed in the PIFL playoffs, setting up a first round rematch against the Richmond Raiders inside the Richmond Coliseum on Monday, July 1st at 7p.m. Fans interested in watching the game can follow along on UStream by going to the PIFL website (www.proifl.com) and clicking on the Raiders Ustream link.
