Raiders Place Six on All-PIFL Team

The Richmond Raiders placed six players on the All-Pro first and second teams, the PIFL announced today. Wide receiver Herb Jones, offensive lineman Kynneth Moses, defensive lineman Brandon Sutton, and defensive back RoShawn Marshall were named to the first team. Kicker T.C. Stevens and fullback Mike Jones made the second team. Moses and Stevens both made the first team last year, while the other four Raiders are first time selections.

Herb Jones set career highs with 96 receptions and 1038 yards, and had 15 touchdowns. He led the league in receptions and finished fifth in yardage. He had five 100-yard games, including four in a row from May 4 through June 1. Jones set a career high and tied the Raider single game record with five touchdowns on May 18 against Louisiana. Kynneth Moses anchored an offensive line that paved the way for a league leading 3.8 yards per rush and 29 rushing touchdowns. He played in all 12 regular season games and earned first team All-PIFL honors for the second straight year, becoming one of only five players to do so.

Brandon Sutton led all PIFL defensive linemen with 3.7 tackles per game. He led the Raiders with 9.0 sacks and 9.5 tackles for a loss. He also contributed 7 quarterback hurries and blocked a field goal. Sutton had 3.5 sacks and 3 tackles for a loss against Lehigh Valley on April 13 and was named PIFL Defensive Player of the Week. He finished the regular season with at least one sack and one TFL in each of the last three games.

RoShawn Marshall personally accounted for nine of the team's 16 takeaways, grabbing seven interceptions and two fumble recoveries - both of which ranked second in the league. He had an interception in overtime against Columbus May 25 which led to the Raiders' game-winning score, and returned a fumble 35 yards for a touchdown in the regular season finale to take the wind out of the Swashbucklers' sails.

T.C. Stevens made a league high 14 unos and led all kickers with 104 points. His 25 yard field goal with seven seconds left gave the Raiders a 51-49 win over the Albany Panthers on May 4. A three time special teams player of the week (the most of any special teams player), Stevens made 87% of his extra points and was 8 for 18 on field goals.

Mike Jones burst on to the indoor football scene in his rookie campaign, and led the league in rushing as of April 27, when he suffered an injury that eventually kept him sidelined for the rest of the regular season. He still finished second in the league with 249 yards and led the league with 4.2 yards per carry and 13 touchdowns. He had a four touchdown, 87 yard performance against Lehigh Valley on April 13 to set Raider single game records in both categories.

With a total of six all-league selections, the Raiders tied with the Columbus Lions for the second highest representation. The Alabama Hammers had nine overall selections, including five on the first team.
