Seven Richmond Raiders Earn All-PIFL Honors

RICHMOND, Va. (July 2, 2015) - The Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) announced Thursday that seven Raiders have been named to the all-PIFL teams. OL James Carter, QB Jonathan Bane, KR Gerron "Scooby" Bryant, K T.C. Stevens, and DL Brandon Sparrow were named First Team All-PIFL selections. DB Malik Cromartie and DB Kevin Allen were named to the All-PIFL second team.
Bane (Dakota Wesleyan) led all quarterbacks this season in touchdowns thrown with a total of 55. This is Bane's second season in the league and his first as a starter. He holds several season single-game highs including most touchdowns thrown in a game with 10. After being inserted into the lineup after the first game, Bane has guided the team to a seven game winning streak.
Carter (NC Wesleyan) a lineman known for his ability to not only make plays to protect his quarterback, but also to run the ball into endzone. He rumbled and stumbled his way in for five touchdowns this season, which is impressive considering his lineman build.
Bryant (Catawba), a fan favorite because of his acrobatics on the field, led the Raiders this season with 66 catches for 822 yards in total. Additionally, he returned 15 kicks for 318 yards, setting up the Raiders offense on many drives.
Stevens (Hampden-Sydney) is a local standout who has been with team for several years. He led the league this season in nearly all kicking-related categories. Known for his accuracy, Stevens was 15-24 on field goals this season and 76-85 on PATs. He scored the most points this season for the Raiders at 135.
Sparrow (Marshall) has been an anchor of the stingy Raider defense this season. He recorded 13.5 sacks for a loss of 84 yards - the most of any Raider this season. Sparrow also notched 26 total tackles in the 2015 season.
Cromartie (NC Central) led the team in tackles by nearly double from the next closest person with 62.5 tackles. A general pest for opposing offenses, he also snagged seven interceptions and returned them for a whopping 139 yards.
Allen (Virginia St.) was another cornerstone of the Raiders defense. During the 2015 regular season, he also grabbed seven interceptions this season and returned them for 40 yards. A versatile player, Allen even scored two touchdowns this season.
The Raiders are next in action as they travel to Columbus, Ga. on Monday for the PIFL Championship. This is the team's third trip to the championship in four years. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on July 6 at the Columbus Civic Center.
