RICHMOND, Va. (July 6, 2015) - The Richmond Raiders (9-5) fell to the Columbus Lions (10-3) by a score of 64-38 on Monday night at the Columbus Civic Center in Georgia. This was Columbus' first PIFL Championship since joining the league in 2012. For Richmond, it was the team's third trip to the finals in four years, and the third time they have come up just short of winning it all.

The Raiders came out of the gates looking hot, as they were able to score on their first two possessions of the game in the first quarter. QB Jonathan Bane found WR Robert Holland in the end zone for the first touchdown of the game, followed by a 39-yard T.C. Stevens field goal to put the Raiders up 9-0. In the second quarter, the two teams traded scores, and Columbus took a 30-24 lead into halftime. However, in the second half, it would be a tale of two teams, as Columbus outscored the Raiders 20-7 in the third quarter, allowing them to put the game just out of reach for the Raiders. It seemed the Raider defense, a stalwart all season long, had trouble containing the Lions in this game. Known for their monster sacks, the defense was quiet this game.QB Jonathan Bane led the Raiders offense by completing 24 passes for 54 yards and five touchdowns. He connected with WR Herb Jones for three touchdowns and with Holland and KR Daron Clark once each for scores. Jones led the Raiders receiving corp with ten catches for 157 yards. The next closest receiver, Holland, brought in eight catches for 44 yards. For Columbus, QB Casey Kacz threw for 187 yards and four touchdowns off of 16 of 26 passing. Kacz connected with Jarmon Fortson and Terrance Ebagua for two touchdowns each, and the Lions also ran in four touchdowns. Fortson led the Lions in receiving, as he hauled in nine catches for 85 yards. Impressively, Kendrick Perry also rushed eight times for 47 yards and three touchdowns on the night.
