
Six Lions Land All-PIFL Honors

COLUMBUS, GA - On Wednesday, the Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) announced that six members of the Columbus Lions earned All-PIFL honors with four members on the 1st Team and one on the 2nd Team.
Leading the way is DB Anthony Shutt (6'0 190, Florida A&M) was the leading vote getter at defensive back completing the year with a PIFL high nine interceptions in addition to leading the team in tackles (52.5). Shutt's hard work paid off earning him a contract with the AFL's Orlando Predators just one week ago.
Local Carver High grad WR/LB Jarmon Fortson (6'3 225, North Alabama) landed the inaugural All-Iron man award finishing in the top-ten in tackles (46) and three interceptions. Fortson was also a main target on offense finishing third on the team with 32 receptions for 444 yards and 7 TD's.
KR/DB LeRoy Vann (5'9 185, Florida A&M) became the first player in PIFL history to score a touchdown four different ways in a single-season and is now the first player to earn two All-PIFL spots in one-season getting the nod as both a kick returner and a defensive back. Vann earned the All 1st Team nod as a kick returner leading all players with 511 return yards and two touchdowns. Vann also picked up a 2nd Team nomination as a DB finishing second on the team with five interceptions while returning three back for touchdowns.
Back for his seventh season with his hometown Lions, LB Justen "Gameday" Rivers (6'1 255, Eastern Kentucky) ended the season as the clubs top sack artist (8.0) picking up his third 1st Team nod having previously won nominations in 2011 and 2009. The Hardaway grad is the clubs all-time leader in tackles (212) and sacks (40).
WR Maurice Dupree (5'10 190, Jacksonville St.) followed up his 2012 MVP season by earning All-PIFL 2nd Team honors leading the club in receptions (55), yards (902), and touchdowns (20) while all finising in the top-ten in each category. OL Dion Small (6'3 300, Troy) picked up his second consecutive All-PIFL 2nd Team award and now has earned All-League honors in four straight seasons. Small also earned 1st Team nods in 2010 and 2011.
