Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Lake Elsinore Storm rode a five-run first inning to their fourth straight win, a 6-3 victory over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Sunday afternoon at the Epicenter.
Quakes' starter Manaurys Correa (0-5) endured a rough first inning, as the Quakes fell behind 5-0 before taking an at-bat. Cody Decker's two-run shot made it a 4-0 game before Blake Tekotte's solo blast capped the five-run inning.
The Quakes chipped away against Storm starter Jorge Reyes (3-2), scoring two in the third to pull to within three. Darwin Perez's RBI single scored Jon Townsend, making it 5-1. With two outs, Adam Younger ripped an RBI triple to left-center field, his first hit in a Quakes' uniform, making it a 5-2 game.
In the fourth, Townsend singled home Gabe Jacobo to make it a two-run game at 5-3.
That's as close as the Quakes would come though, as the Storm got to Correa for a final run in the sixth, as Yefri Carvajal's sac fly plated Tekotte, giving the Storm a 6-3 lead.
The Lake Elsinore bullpen combined for three scoreless innings to finish it off, with Brad Brach collecting his league-best 12th save of the year with a scoreless ninth.
Roberto Lopez doubled in the eighth inning, extending his league-high hitting streak to 22 consecutive games.
The Quakes (15-16) look to end their three-game slide on Monday morning, taking on the Storm in a special 10:35am game from The Epicenter. Tyler Chatwood (2-2) takes on right-hander Anthony Bass (1-1). Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. We hope to see you at The Epicenter very soon. Go Quakes!
