Birmingham, AL - The Barons surrendered six runs over the final two innings, falling by a score of 8-2 to the Tennessee Smokies Tuesday night in front of 1,972 fans at Regions Park. The Smokies broke a scoreless tie in the sixth inning on a towering two-run home run by Jae-Hoon Ha, his fifth home run of the season. The long ball was the first allowed by Barons starter Andre Rienzo all season.

The Barons would come back to tie the game in the bottom half of the sixth as Trayce Thompson led off the inning with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Brady Shoemaker. Seth Loman would follow with a solo home run down the right field line to tie the game at 2-2. The homer was Loman's team-leading 15th of the season.

Rienzo went 7.0 strong innings allowing just four hits and two run while striking out two. Dan Remenowsky relieved Rienzo in the eighth and immediately found himself in trouble allowing a leadoff double to Michael Brenly. Following a walk and a wild pitch, Logan Watkins singled up the middle to give the Smokies a 3-2 lead.

Tennessee would go on to score five runs in the inning as Junior Lake and Rubi Silva knocked Remenowsky (1-3, 2.34) from the game with RBI singles. Remenowsky allowed all five runs in the inning on four hits while retiring just one batter.

The Barons were unable to mount a rally over the final two innings, falling to 55-65 on the year and 25-26 in the second half while Tennessee improves to 59-62 and 24-27 in the second half. The Barons will look to rebound tomorrow night as RHP Nestor Molina (4-9, 4.70) takes the hill against RHP Nick Struck (13-10, 3.64). First pitch is schedule for 7:05 PM CDT.
