New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Manchester, NH- The New Hampshire Fisher Cats exploded for six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Scott Richmond allowed just two runs in six innings to become the team's first three-game winner in an 11-4 triumph over the New Britain Rock Cats before 2,498 fans at Merchantsauto.com Stadium on Monday night. The Fisher Cats took three out of four games from the Rock Cats in the series and won for the seventh time in their last nine home games.

New Hampshire (13-23) blew it open with its best offensive inning of the season, sending 12 men to the plate and scoring six runs off reliever Jay Sawatski to build a 9-2 lead in the sixth inning. Ryan Klosterman (1-for-4, RBI, 2 R, BB) and Scott Campbell (3-for-5, 2 R, RBI, BB) began the inning with singles, and Aaron Mathews (2-for-4, BB, R) walked. Travis Snider (2-for-5, HR, 3 RBI, 2 R) grounded a two-run single, David Smith (2-for-3, 2 RBI, 2 2B, R, BB) lined an RBI double into the leftfield corner and Kyle Phillips (2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R, BB) blooped a bases-loaded single to centerfield. Sawatski (1.1 IP, 6 ER, 6 H, 4 BB) walked Anthony Hatch (0-for-4, RBI, BB) to force in a run, and reliever Armando Gabino followed by walking Klosterman to force in another run.

That was more than enough support for Richmond (3-4), who matched a season high with seven strikeouts in six innings of work. He held New Britain (20-16) to two runs on four hits.

Mike Gallo allowed two runs on four hits in three innings of relief but still notched his third save of the season, tied for the club lead.

New Hampshire had its leadoff batter reach base in all eight innings, capped by leadoff home runs from Snider, his fourth, in the bottom of the seventh inning and Phillips, his first, in the bottom of the eighth inning off Garbino.

The Fisher Cats scored a pair of unearned runs off Rock Cats' starter Anthony Swarzak in the bottom of the third inning to grab a 2-0 lead. After shortstop Trevor Plouffe committed a fielding error that allowed Klosterman to reach, Campbell and Mathews singled to load the bases. Smith drew a based-loaded RBI walk, and Brian Jeroloman (1-for-3, SF, RBI, BB) lined a sacrifice fly to centerfield.

New Hampshire went ahead 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning against Swarzak when Campbell's two-out single to right scored Phillips, who led off the frame with a walk.

New Britain drew within 3-2 in the top of the sixth inning against Richmond with an RBI single from Dustin Martin (2-for-4, RBI) and a run-scoring fielder's choice grounder by Brock Peterson (0-for-4, RBI).

Matt Moses (1-for-4, 2B, RBI, R) had an RBI double off Gallo in the ninth inning and scored on a run-scoring single from Felix Molina (3-for-4, RBI).

The Fisher Cats continue their homestand by opening a three-game series against the Connecticut Defenders Tuesday night at 6:35pm. Right-hander Brandon Magee (0-5, 5.97) goes for his first victory against Connecticut right-hander Garrett Broshuis (2-3, 4.04). Radio coverage begins at 6:15pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman and Mike Murphy.
